Wakestock is Europe's largest wakeboard music festival. It takes place on the stunning Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales. The area is renowned for it's great beaches, renowned surf breaks, pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. Wakestock has come a long way since it's launch in 2000. Now firmly established as part of the UK festival scene, Wakestock last year played host to over 20,000 people who travelled to the Llyn Peninsula to enjoy music from some of the UK's finest bands and DJ's. But Wakestock is about more than just the music and also combines two days of world class wakeboarding competition. Some of the world's best wakeboarders travel from all corners of the globe to compete for the Wakestock crown - it's the title they all want to win. The main competition takes place in Pwllheli Marina where a purpose built slider park is constructed for the competition. Thousands of spectators line the 600 metre promenade which looks out over the marina, to watch every stack and slide whilst only metres away from the action. Abersoch Beach plays host to the Big Air Classic on Friday evening where crowds watch the riders give it their all off the kicker positioned right on the shoreline; it's a simple formula - best trick wins. The festival site at Penrhos has all the facilities you would expect from a major festival including camping on site, a massive outdoor stage, two further music arenas, funfair, trade stalls, and a huge pool-gap set-up that brings all the wakeboarding and wakeskate action to the festival site.
