Lovebox London Weekender

Lovebox began in May 2002 as Groove Armada's London Club residency, allowing Tom and Andy to host their own more underground and street level parties featuring strong and innovative musical line-ups presented with high production standards.

Since then Lovebox has never stood still having hosted sell-out nights at The End, 93 Feet East, Turnmills, Neighbourhood, Canvas, The Key and The Ministry of Sound in London and up and down the UK and Ireland from Brighton to Dublin to Belfast and Edinburgh and of course the now legendary annual Thames summer boat party

2003 saw the first "Lovebox on a Summer’s Day" staged on Clapham Common - a one day outdoor festival with main live stage and 3 dance tents plus bars and food concessions All 10,000 tickets were sold within 2 days.

In 2004, bolstered by the previous year's success, the festival was repeated on Clapham common with an enlarged capacity. All 20,000 tickets sold within 3 days.

Also in 2004 Lovebox staged an outdoor event for 10,000 on Newcastle racecourse, followed by an after party in Newcastle’s biggest nightclub.

2005 seeking a bigger, better site within London to realise the vision of a greener, leafier setting and to escape the over zealous noise restrictions and limited facilities offered by Clapham, Lovebox managed to secure the vastly superior site on Victoria Park in 2005 to stage a revitalised two day festival re-branded as the "Lovebox Weekender" - selling 35,000 tickets.

In 2005 both days were headlined by Groove Armada on the main stage (sharing top billing with Mylo on the Saturday), and a wide variety of changing talent in a further four dance tents - this time colourful big top tents. Additionally there were two cabaret arenas including a spectacular early 1900s 'Spiegel Tent', a large variety of food and drink concessions and a fun fair. An enormous attention to detail melded the rural beauty of a Glastonbury style event with the food and drink, facilities and convenience a London setting could offer.

In 2006 the site grew bigger to accommodate an even wider range of musical talent and alternative entertainment and continued to become morecolorful with tents of all shapes and sizes. Groove Armada headlined the Saturday and invited Jamiroquai to finish off the Sunday on the main stage, while an endless list fantastic talent from all the musical genres made the weekend a great success.

Four years on and Lovebox has seen the best part of 200,000 people enthusiastically dance and smile in parks, clubs aboard boats on the Thames. 2007 is already looking set to take the party to greater heights...
