La Route du Rock Festival, France

The jewel in the crown of France's festival scene, La Route du Rock Festival continues to attract big names and even bigger crowds. Aside from the music, which has seen bands such as Pulp, The Cure and Garbage play over the years, part of the draw is the festival's unique setting - the decaying ramparts of a ruined castle near the beaches of idyllic Saint Malo.
This year musical highlights include the Smashing Pumpkins, LCD Soundsystem and CSS. However, the most exciting news (for me anyway) is that Sonic Youth will performing their classic 1988 album Daydream Nation, which includes the awesome Teen Age Riot.
La Route du Rock takes places from the 15th to the 17th of August and tickets which are dead cheap at £45 for all three days, are still available.
